The figures

Billions of francs are waiting for their owners

When nobody says where a termination benefit should be paid, it ends up with the Substitute Occupational Benefit Institution (Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG). Many of these accounts no longer have any contact with their holder.

In the press

How it works

Three steps, zero paperwork

We take care of the formalities you would otherwise have had to handle by post, one pension fund at a time.

Step 1 · 3 min

You fill in the form

Identity, AHV number and electronic signature of the power of attorney. That’s all we need.

Step 2 · a few weeks

We find your accounts

The Central Office 2nd Pillar tells us where your assets are. We then contact each institution to obtain the amounts.

Step 3 · if you wish

You consolidate in one click

You choose where to bring your assets together. We prepare and send the transfer instructions to each pension fund.

When to search

You may have forgotten assets if…

As soon as someone leaves their pension fund without joining another, their termination benefit goes into a vested benefits account. Without instructions, it ends up with the Substitute Institution.

Change of job

A gap of a few months between two jobs is enough to create a vested benefits account.

Unemployment

Your assets leave your employer’s pension fund and must be placed elsewhere.

Sabbatical or parental leave

A break from work often means leaving the pension fund.

Leaving Switzerland

Depending on where you are moving to, part of it can be withdrawn. The rest must remain invested in Switzerland.

Divorce

Splitting pension assets creates vested benefits if the recipient is not a member of a pension fund.

Buying a home

Your 2nd pillar assets can be used as equity for your main residence.

Becoming self-employed

When you become self-employed, you can, under certain conditions, withdraw your assets to finance your business.

Preparing for retirement

Get a complete overview of your assets before choosing between a pension and a lump sum.

Inheritance

Find out whether a deceased relative had assets the family does not know about.

Consolidation

One account instead of three scattered statements

Scattered vested benefits accounts cost you time and often earn little. Brought together, they are easier to keep track of and can be invested to suit your time horizon.

Savings account

Guaranteed capital that earns interest. Suitable if retirement is approaching.

Securities solution

Investment in funds according to your risk profile, with higher return potential over the long term.

Back into a pension fund

If you have a new employer, we transfer your assets to their pension fund, with no consolidation fees.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

What are vested benefits?

They are your occupational pension capital (2nd pillar) when you are no longer a member of a pension fund. They are held in a vested benefits account or policy until you join a new pension fund or reach retirement age.

How could I have ‘lost’ my assets?

When you leave an employer, its pension fund asks you where to pay your termination benefit: to your new employer’s pension fund or to a vested benefits account. If it receives no reply, for example because the letter went to an old address, it must pay the money to the Substitute Institution, no earlier than six months and no later than two years after you leave (art. 4 of the Vested Benefits Act, FZG/LFLP). The money still exists, but nobody tells you about it any more. A move, a stay abroad, a period of unemployment or several job changes in quick succession are enough to lose track of one or more accounts.

What is the Central Office 2nd Pillar?

It is the official body that links insured persons and pension institutions. It does not manage any assets, but it knows where they are. We send it your request on your behalf, using the power of attorney you sign.

Why do you need my AHV number?

It is the identifier used by all pension institutions. Without it, the Central Office 2nd Pillar cannot match your accounts to your identity.

How long does the search take?

Usually a few weeks. The time it takes depends on the Central Office 2nd Pillar and then on how quickly each institution responds. You are notified by e-mail whenever there is new information.

Do I have to consolidate my assets with you?

No. The search is free and leaves you free to choose. You can use the results to take the necessary steps yourself or to transfer to the institution of your choice.

What do you do with my data?

It is used first and foremost to search for and consolidate your assets, and is processed in accordance with the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). If you agree, your contact details may also be passed on to Brokerlink Sàrl and its partners so that they can present offers to you; this consent is optional and can be withdrawn at any time. Your AHV number is used only for the search. Full details are available in our data protection policy.
